Caroline Amerson

A key member of Smithson Law Firm, Caroline Amerson is active in the development of arbitration in Europe, and has assisted a number of European Governments with the creation and improvement of their arbitration legal framework. In 2020, she was recognized by the Association of Young Arbitrators as one of Europe's 50 Most Promising Young Arbitration Practitioners.
While her practice centers on disputes resolution, Caroline regularly advises clients on non-contentious construction and engineering matters in North America and Europe also.
Caroline’s wealth of experience both in private practice and in-house means that she can offer well-honed technical skills in the context of a pragmatic, strategic and highly commercial response. She is often described as an extension of a client’s in-house team.
When technology and law meet, Caroline plays a big role. She helps clients in various industries and technological fields in their patent disputes. In addition and in line with his previous career, she assists clients with their data protection issues.
A strong advocate for diversity, Caroline is a member of the firm’s Steering Committee for women in arbitration, a member of the Africa Sub-Committee of the Equal Representation in Arbitration Pledge, and is often a featured speaker on ethnic and gender diversity issues at arbitration conferences around the world.
